Business users demand increased flexibility and user-friendly and interactive analytical tools to run their daily analysis for a more informed and faster decision-making, without the need of continual assistance from the IT department. Additionally, data miners need to reduce their workload and to get rid of constant pressure to deliver end users’ analysis on time, so that they can focus on core business issues. International Data Corporation (IDC) reveals in the research “IDC Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) Business Analytics 2012 Top 10 Predictions” several analytical tools that provide alternatives to tradicional BI suites. Quiterian is mentioned among emerging vendors for its agile, Visual Data Mining offering aimed at business users who manage Big Data.

In his article “Interest in Data Mining and Predictive Analytics Grows”, Senior Consultant Curt Hall points out that “interest in predictive analytics and data mining has never been higher”, and comments on some of the factors that are driving this scenario. Among them, he stands out the advent of cloud-based data-mining applications and services, such as Quiterian’s SaaS offering, which have brought data mining and predictive analytics closer to business users. Hall says: “The availability of predictive analytics in the cloud is significant. It makes the technology – one that has typically been hard to get started with due to complexity, cost, skill set requirements, processing needs, etc. – accesible to more end-user organizations that otherwise might not be able, or which would be unwilling, to attempt to use predictive analytics”. Hall explicitly recommends to check out the SaaS predictive analytics available from Quiterian – among other vendors -.

This is what Gartner’s research “BI Platforms User Survey, 2011: Customers Rate Their BI Platform Cost of Ownership” states. The research is based on a recent survey made to 1,225 professionals in the BI sector worldwide, which has taken their opinion about the 26 most important BI platforms’ vendors internationally into account.

BI workflow is Quiterian’s “core capability”, since it focuses “on customer and marketing analytics where workflow is especially important. Every process involves getting raw data, integrating and cleansing it, running the data against certain rules to come up with segmentation and scoring, and inserting data into marketing campaigns and other downstream applications”. “But even though these two vendors (Quiterian and another vendor) mostly specialize in customer analytics, there’s no reason why their technology can’t be deployed in other BI use cases”.
